Expressive Language

Expressive language refers to our ability to express thoughts, feelings, and ideas.

If your child has an expressive language delay, you might notice they:

  • Use fewer vocabulary words than other children their age

  • Have difficulty forming sentences and using correct grammar

  • Have word finding difficulties

  • Have difficulty retelling a story

Speech-language therapy can help with all of these expressive language skills and more.
